Reading is Important!
Whether it’s emails at work or bedtime stories to our children, reading is an important skill that many of us use every day. While this reading is undoubtedly important, there is another type of reading that we should prioritize in our lives – recreational reading. The benefits of recreational reading include:
-
Managing stress by increasing enjoyment and relaxation.
-
Improving concentration, working memory, and cognitive development.
-
Expanding vocabulary and knowledge of the world helps readers become better writers and communicators.
-
Developing empathy by improving understanding of ourselves and those who are different from us.
This winter, grab a book - audiobooks count, too! - and read!
